Nanea's Holoku Dress

Hi everyone! It's Katherine here today with a photo-shoot of Nanea for you! Enjoy!

The dress that Nanea is wearing is called a holoku. It has been worn in Hawaii since 1820 and is associated with  Hawaiian ethnicity.
Even though the holoku is of Hawaiian ethnicity, it's not as widely known as the mu'umu'u which is regarded by non-natives of Hawaii as the Hawaiian dress.
This dress was from an adaptation of an American day gown that originated in 1820.
The holoku is now considered formal wear instead of every day dress.
A couple pictures of the train of the dress because it's so pretty!
Around her neck Nanea is wearing a maile lei which is a lei made from maile leaves and worn for special occasions.

Did you know the history behind the holoku dress? I didn't, so I researched it.

Did you find the information interesting? Would you like to know more? Let me know, and if you do I will do another post.

Which picture as your favorite?

One, no swearing or bad language. Two, be kind to other people and try not to start an argument. If you have a doll blog feel free to leave a link, and I will check it out! Thanks for taking time to comment!
